Slovakia vs Russia Prediction & Tips
Slovakia’s results in the current international break have been disappointing and must win by any way in their third match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualification (CCM) – they did not win despite starting as favorites in their two previous encounters (E2). On the contrary, they have avoided defeat in four of their last seven games entered as “underdogs” (W1, E3, P3 – 90 minutes).
Since winning four of the five home games it has played at MCC Russia 2018 – conceding just one goal against – Slovakia has averaged 1.6 goals conceded per game in its last 10 official home games. He has only left his goal unbeaten in 30% of those crashes.
Visiting Russia (# 39 in the FIFA Ranking) is ranked five places below Slovakia (# 34), although his spectacular start to this CCM campaign sees him enter as a betting favorite. However, it is a label he has had quite a few problems with lately, as evidenced by his record in his last seven crashes where he carried that label (G2, E3, P2). The team that scored the first goal won in four (57.14%) of those seven games.
Entertainment is generally assured when Russia play away from home, as eight of their last nine official away matches have ended with more than 3.5 goals in total – averaging 4.44 total goals per game. In addition, none of those nine games ended tied, while all ended with the same result as the halftime, except one.
Players to watch: Slovak defender Milan Škriniar may seem like an unlikely scorer, but he has contributed to three goals in his last four games at club and national level (two goals, one assist). Russia’s fittest player is veteran forward Artem Dzyuba, who has participated in four of Russia’s five CCM goals so far (three goals, one assist).
Highlight: Slovakia has averaged 10.5 shots per clash so far compared to Russia’s 10.0 – though both have averaged 4.0 shots on target.
