North Macedonia vs Latvia Prediction & Tips
Fresh from a successful campaign in the UEFA Nations League (UNL) in which Northern Macedonia scored 15 points out of 18 possible and scored an average of 2.33 goals per game, the home side this time will feel that their favorite tag is justified against a Latvian team that did not win any of their matches in the UNL (E4, P2).
Macedonia team has the habit of living up to that label, as it has won the last five official matches at home in which it started as a favorite and in four of them registered three or more goals. In fact, the hosts have not lost in Skopje since a valid match for the World Cup qualifiers in June 2017, when they lost 2-1 to Spain.
The visiting team of Latvia has not won any qualifying matches for international tournaments (including the UNL) playing away from home since beating weak Andorra 1-0 in September 2016 (E3, P4), although it did receive more than 1.5 goals on only two occasions during that period.
However, the team has had many problems in the attack and has not managed to score more than one goal in 12 consecutive games (all places, all competitions), and also only scored twice in total during its UNL campaign ( six games). Outside the home he scored twice or more for the last time in an official match in October 2015 against Iceland (2-2).
Players to watch: Aleksandar Trajkovski (MAC) has scored three goals in his last two matches at home.
Paphos forward Deniss Rakels scored Latvia’s last goal away from home; it was a 1-1 draw against Kazakhstan last November.
Statistics to consider: Both teams have scored in only two of the last ten Macedonia matches.
Macedonia left their goal unbeaten in nine of their last 10 wins.
Three of Latvia’s last four goals have arrived between the 40 ‘and 50’ minutes.
Latvia have conceded the first goal in their last five games where they have scored more than 0.5 goals in total.
