Czech Republic vs Scotland Prediction & Tips
Three goals in the second half facilitated the victory of the Czech Republic 3-1 in their last game, and extended their streak of matches without drawing to 27, and without being able to score at halftime in the last four of them, the same case as in the last six meetings with each other (G3, E1, P2). However, that recent win did stop at least a four-game losing streak in the debut.
The home side have won their last five official home games but are expected to feature an alternate team here. That could jeopardize the Czech Republic’s impressive record of not losing an official home game to a team that is currently outside the top 45 in the FIFA Rankings since September 2013.
A weakened home team would be good news for Scotland (# 50), who have lost their last seven games against teams higher than them. A 1-1 draw against Israel in their first UEFA Nations League (UNL) match extended their unbeaten streak to at least four matches (G3, E1), though it also halted an eight-match streak of over 2.5 goals, from of which six had goals in both halves.
A good start will be key to Scotland’s chances, as in their last six away games, the team that scored first took all three points (W3, P3). However, Scotland are prone to collapse in the second half, as of the last eight goals they conceded on the road, seven came after the break.
Players to watch: Defender Roman Hubník is one of only two players to record previous appearances with the national team in the current squad. The 36-year-old veteran has scored three international goals in his career and one came against Scotland in qualifying for Euro 2012.
Ryan Christie scored the first goal against Israel and also scored the first goal in Scotland’s last away game.
Highlight: Eleven of the last 12 goals the Czech Republic has scored came in the second half.
