Burnley – Crystal Palace (Pick, Prediction, Preview) Preview

Burnley vs Crystal Palace Prediction & Tips

It has been a rather difficult start to the season for Burnley, as they have yet to win in the Premier League so far (E2, P5) and have accumulated points than any other campaign since their promotion, and even less than in their last campaign in which it descended. However, they have never posted four consecutive home losses at the start of a PL season.
Burnley have also lost their first three league games at home without scoring, but if superstition plays a role, that streak could end in this fixture – Burnley have scored in six of their last seven PL games played. Monday night in English time. None of them finished level (G3, P4).
Palace’s eight goals in the first half are just two fewer than they achieved in the entire 2019/20 campaign. Consequently, the ‘Eagles’ have led at halftime in five of their eight meetings thus far. However, the second half in their away matches still averages a greater number of total goals (2.25) than the first fraction (1.0).
Although Crystal Palace only won when they led at halftime this season, they have shown a lot of solidity under Roy Hodgson, who has avoided defeat in six of the eight meetings he has played against Burnley (G5, E1, P2). Only two of those clashes ended with goals from both frames.
Interestingly, Turf Moor is one of the three PL pitches that Palace has visited five or more times and where it has won more league matches than it has lost (G3, P2): the occupants of the other two pitches in question have been relegated since then in the last three seasons.
Players to watch: Ashley Westwood, with one goal, is the only Burnley player to have scored in their last seven official games.
Palace striker Wilfried Zaha has already registered as many goal appearances (five goals, two assists) in eight games as he did in the entirety of last season (four goals, three assists).
Highlight: Four of Roy Hodgson’s five previous wins as a coach against Burnley have been by two or more goals difference.
