Aston Villa vs Burnley Prediction & Tips
The impressive Aston Villa has won six of its ten Premier League (PL) matches so far (G6, P4) and subsequently is five places and seven points better than what it accumulated at this point but last season. Villa’s attack has been one of his most striking assets and his average of 2.1 goals scored per game is the second best in the division, although he has only scored once in each of his three previous games.
However, it is worrying that Villa have lost three straight home games at the PL level and have also conceded at least goals in each of their previous four home games. One small consolation is that he recorded more corners than his rival in each of those three losses – generating at least six in each.
Burnley are on the up and have only lost one of their five previous PL games (W2, E2, P1) – despite a major loss to Manchester City, they have a good recent defensive record in which they have not conceded goals in three of his five previous games. However, lack of goals is a constant problem, and he has only scored six times this PL campaign.
An own goal by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang the previous Sunday gave Burnley their first away victory in the PL (W1, W2, P3). The timing of that goal also continued an intriguing trend this season, which has seen all of his goals arrive exclusively in the first 15 minutes of the match or within the 61-75 minute segment.
Players to watch: Anwar El Ghazi scored the winning goal in stoppage time last Saturday and it was Villa’s fourth goal in that span since the start of last season – twice as many as any other team. Meanwhile, Burnley’s Chris Wood has missed the second most “big chances” in PL this season (eight), but he did score in the last game between these two casts.
Highlight: From the start of the 2019/20 season onwards, ten opposing players have been sent off against Villa, two more than any other team.
